Rental and payment
How long is the rental agreement for?
The rental agreement may be as short as one month, or as long as required, on a calendar month basis.
When are payments due?
Payments (inclusive of VAT) are due on signature of the rental agreement and thereafter on the first day of each month.
How do I terminate my rental agreement?
Contracts are terminated on the last day of the calendar month. You are requested to notify Storage Mossel Bay no later than the 15th of the month of your intention to vacate a storage unit. You should vacate your storage unit by no later than 16:00 on the last day of the month, or on the appropriate day as the case may be and should report to Storage Mossel Bay. You are responsible for any damages to the unit’s interior walls and/or door caused by your negligence during the rental period of the unit.
How much will it cost?
The price per unit ranges from R 850 – R 1 000 per month depending on the size of the unit. The price includes VAT.
How do I rent a storage unit?
You will need to sign a rental agreement before you have access to your storage unit. You are requested to make initial arrangements for storage during office hours (weekdays 08:00 – 13:00). Once the booking procedures have been completed, access will be from Mondays to Fridays from 08:00 to 18:00. Please note that our office hours are different to our access hours.
Are there any hidden extras?
All you have to pay is the monthly unit rental to Storage Mossel Bay which includes VAT. You will need a padlock to secure your unit. No other charges will be made by Storage Mossel Bay for electricity, rates, service charges, etc. You will need to arrange insurance for your goods whilst they are in storage. Inform your insurer, and ask them to cover your possessions.
Can I look at the units before I rent?
Yes, our staff will be more than happy to give you a tour of our storage facilities.
How can I pay?
You are welcome to pay in cash, via electronic funds transfer or via debit order.
Security
What security does the storage have?
Storage Mossel Bay security includes access control, 24 hour on-site security, a 2 metre solid brick wall, electric fencing, and perimeter beams. The facility is connected to an alarm system with flood lights and 24 hour monitoring of all security systems.
Who provides the lock and who holds the key?
You must provide your own lock and retain the keys for the unit you rent. You can bring your own lock or you may purchase a high quality disc or cylinder lock at the storage office. You are the only key holder.
How safe are my stored goods?
Storage Mossel Bay makes every effort to ensure the safety of all goods stored on the premises. The goods are the sole risk of the customer who is urged to obtain insurance cover where appropriate. All our units are insulated, fire proof, water proof, dust and vermin controlled.
Are my stored goods insured?
Storage Mossel Bay does not insure stored goods. You need to arrange your own insurance. Inform your insurer that your goods will be in storage, and ask them to cover your possessions.
Who may access my storage?
Only you have the keys to the storage unit and may access the unit. You may also nominate additional people who are authorised to access your storage. The unit is locked with your own padlock and you retain the key.
Storage
What is the size of your storage units?
Storage Mossel Bay offers garage-style storage units which are 18 m² (6 m x 3 m) and 3 m high. The units are sized to typically hold 1 to 1.5 rooms’ worth of furniture (or 40-50 medium boxes).
What do the storage units look like?
Storage Mossel Bay offers garage-style units which are built with bricks and have an industrial-strength roll-up door. All areas around the units are paved.
What can and can’t be stored?
You can store almost anything in your storage unit. You do undertake not to store anything which may be identified as hazardous and/or not suitable for self-storage which include hazardous, corrosive, radioactive, and toxic materials; pollutants, waste or contaminated goods; illegal goods; living organisms; fire hazards, which include flammable liquids and fuels, explosives or unstable chemicals; any items which have an offensive odour; any items which may be a nuisance to other customers; any items which may damage the storage facility in any way; perishable goods, such as food; any items that need to be in a controlled environment.
How do I get my goods to you?
You have to arrange transport for your goods to Storage Mossel Bay. Our facility has ample parking and large loading/unloading areas.
Do I pack my own self-storage unit?
Yes, our staff are available to assist, and we provide trolleys. Storage Mossel Bay has two large entrance and exit gates with wide paved roads to accommodate truck sizes up to 25T without a trailer.
Do you have trolleys to move large items?
Trolleys are available for you to move your larger items into storage.
How often may I access my storage unit?
You may come and go as you please, during the operating opening hours. Weekdays from 08:00 -18:00, Saturdays from 08:00-13:00. After hours entry is permitted with prior arrangement.
Do you offer packaging materials?
No, we do not offer packing materials.
